A company called Dolgin Engineering has released a “4-position microprocessor-based 7.2v battery charger” (basically means insane-crazy-cool battery charger) called the TC400. This thing can charge a typical high-capacity battery pack in as little as 3.5 hours, works worldwide, and can charge your run-of-the-mill Sony, Panasonic, Canon, or JVC 7.2v battery packs. The built-in LCD screen shows the charge progress in percentages, volts, and mAH. The TC400 can also be used to test batteries and show their true capacity with an optional add-on module.

If this thing wasn’t so expensive I think I’d be in love. It’s meant mostly for studios and rental facilities, and will run you anywhere from $495 for the basic unit to $695 for all the bells and whistles.
