Canon has announced the new DC40, the latest in their line of direct-to-dvd camcorders. Like the DC10 and DC20, it features a 10x optical zoom. A 4.33 megapixel CCD chip lets you take high-resolution stills straight to an SD card, which is much better than having it go to the DVD. I still can’t figure out why there is still such a hub-bub regarding DVD camcorders. But hey, here it is.
