A documentary is being filmed. A cell phone rings, playing the Rocky theme tune. The filmmaker is told she must pay $10,000 to clear the rights to the song. Can this be true?

0974155314.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpgRemember the old days when you had to have very single copy of the X-Men or Superman comic books? Now you can relive those days and learn something, too. The Duke Center for the Public Domain just released a comic book entitled, “Bound by Law,” with the subheading, “Tales from the public domain.” That’s right, it’s a comic all about fair use and copyrighting. Documentaries are the main focus, but I’m sure anyone could benefit. It is on sale now at Amazon and will be released under a Creative Commons license as well.
