If you know someone who doesn’t want to chalk up the money for an HD camcorder or TV because they haven’t seen the difference yet (heaven forbid), then this is the page for you. This guy took captures from the “Fellowship of the Rings” DVD as well as the HDTV broadcast and put them together so that anyone can see the quality difference. Simply mouse-over each image and to see the HD image in comparison with the SD image. Click on the images to see what the DVD looks like upscaled to the Hi-Def resolution. Mmmm, so nice…

i still don’t see the justification for spending that much money on a new tv. Yeah, the pictures are clearer but, and i’ve gone to stores and seen the side by side comparisons, with moving images, I really just can’t tell the difference. Screenshots and stills are fine and I completely admit that I woudln’t want some of these blurry and undefined still hanging in my living room but television moves, it’s not a still-frame. When I look at a moving picture, I cannot, and don’t foresee at any time in the future, see any television that is 2000 dollars and more as being worth the cost. There simply isn’t anything on television that is worth that much money. If people want to have the newest toys and have convinced themselves that they’re really getting a value for that much money, that’s fine but I just don’t get it.
The difference is great. If you cant see the difference i under stand why you don’t want a HD tv. But for us that do see the difference its a great enchantment to the home cinema experience.
You didn’t understand a word he said, did you?
