On the heels of announcing around 8 new digital cameras, Canon has also announced a new DVD digital camcorder, the DC100. Despite being called the DC100, Canon’s new camcorder is actually the cheaper cousin of the new DC40 camcorder. It has a 1/6″ 680K CCD, 2.7″ LCD screen, and a 25x optical zoom. Unfortunately, no memory card slot is provided for stills, but with only 450K effective pixels it’s not like anyone would have used it anyway. It will retail with a suggested price of $499 near the end of April.
