It was only a matter of time before user-submission stock footage sources got into the digital video market. ShutterStock.com has become the first subscription-based stock photo agency to offer video footage as well. Now anyone with a digital camcorder can start making money off of their footage. ShutterStock Footage™ will offer royalty-free video clips of up to one minute in length for between $79-299 per clip. Videographers will get a 30% commission from each clip that is downloaded. ShutterStock’s CEO and founder, Jon Oringer, had this to say:

“ShutterStock was founded to fill a gap in the stock photography market, and we see the same need among creative professionals working in video. People need premium quality footage that’s easy to download, and affordable to use; ShutterStock Footage will provide just that.”

Clips must be one minute or less in length and have to be recorded at standard resolution (640×480) or higher. Acceptable formats are QuickTime, WMV, MPG, DV, HDDV, and AVI. Sales will begin sometime before Summer, but you can start submitting already by heading over to http://footage.shutterstock.com.
