sony_rc200_series_complete.JPGAccording to HDTV UK, Sony is releasing a computer specifically tailored for HD video serving and editing. The VGC-RC202 is built to support 1920×1080 output to any HD TV. It contains a PCI Express 256mb NVIDIA GeForce 6600, an SACD player, and 300GB twin hard drives (600GB total). A 2.8GHz Pentium D 920 dual core processor rounds out this powerful PC.

The thing I found interesting is that it is the first desktop I’ve seen where HD viewing AND editing are the main selling points. Hopefully we’ll see more of this in the future as more consumers are able to get their hands on HD digital camcorders. I can’t find much on this elsewhere, be it the actual press release or any other information. It’s supposed to go for £1300, or around $2,267.
