Touted to be the “First Consumer Disc Authoring Software to Support High-Definition Video Discs,” InterVideo Ulead’s newly announced DVD MovieFactory 5 could be just that. Support for both HD DVD and Blu-Ray formats makes this a valuable piece of software for DVD authors.

Capturing from DV and HDV digital camcorders is supported and a basic video editor is included as well. Not unlike this Mpeg editor, Ulead’s DVD MovieFactory also includes a feature called Ad-Zapper, which will scan footage and delete commercials automatically. Other basic authoring features are included. DVD MovieFactory will be available in late March for $49.99 in stores and online. Those who own DVD MovieFactory 3 or 4 can buy the upgrade online for $39.99.
