Buffalo Tech has announced three new Network Attached Storage devices (NAS), which should make all you byte-hoarders out there drool with envy. Two of the products, the TeraStation Home Server are brand new, while the TeraStation Pro is an addition to the already existing line of Terastation Pro servers. All are Mac and Windows compatible, and also include 10/100/1000 Gigabit ethernet ports.
The TeraStation Pro definitely has my vote: 2TB (yes, that’s terabytes) of storage, a lockable front panel, and two USB 2.0 ports are just the beginning. A diagnostic LCD screen on the front shows disk usage and network information, along with any problems the device may be having. The estimated street price will be $1999.
The TeraStation Home Servers are a brand new addition aimed at media savvy consumers. Their purpose is to distribute digital content across a home network or to entertainment devices. They are available in 1.6TB or 2TB capacities. Four USB 2.0 ports and a built-in print server make this a hot commodity. The prices will be $1499 and $1899 respectively.
