CNET’s new review of the Canon ZR700 digital camcorder has an interesting contradiction with CamcorderInfo’s review of the same camcorder. One of the main things CNET didn’t like about the ZR700 was its very poor low-light performance. They compared it as equal with the Canon ZR700’s predecessor, the ZR300, which performed badly in low-light situations.
However, CamcorderInfo says the exact opposite: that the ZR700 performed much better in low-light than the ZR300. Makes you wonder who’s right. At least CamcorderInfo has pictures of the low-light video, which looks nice to me.
Both reviews liked the easy to use controls and loved the color reproduction. I found it interesting that CNET gave the ZR700 a 6.8/10 rating, higher than Panasonic’s GS300 (it got a 6.6/10), which is a much better camcorder, albeit more expensive as well.
