Apple is now shipping the first “universal” edition of their popular Final Cut Pro video editing suite. The “universal” means that Final Cut Pro 5.1 can now be run on the new Intel-based Macs, which Apple is saying makes them up to 2.5x faster. The suite comes packaged with Soundtrack Pro, Motion 2, and DVD Studio Pro 4. The new universal edition is going for a price of about $1,299 for new users. Current registered owners of Final Cut Studio can upgrade for $49, and owners of the standalone versions of the packaged software can upgrade for $99.
