SI-1920HDVR.jpgSilicon Imaging is going to be presenting their new SI-1920HDVR HD camcorder at NAB next week. The SI-1920HDVR sports a 2/3″ CMOS sensor and records in native 1920 x 1080 with progressive scan (see sample image above). Footage is recorded onto a hot-swappable USB 2.0 HDD, which means it is effectively DTE (Direct-to-edit). The site mentions that up to 4 hours can be recorded on one 160GB laptop drive, but no mention is made whether or not the camcorder will support higher capacities. There is a whole slew of other features packed into this camcorder, and for the price there had better be.

The SI-1920HDVR features a 7″ touchscreen with a whole lot of options, including a 2x digital zoom for focusing, which you can see in their image gallery. For HD footage formats, the SI-1920HDVR can record in 1080/24p, 1080/25p, 1080/30p, or 720p. Recording in 720p, you have the option of recording at 72fps for slow motion. Video is encoded with the Cineform RAW codec.

Also included on the SI-1920HDVR are 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2GB SDRAM, VGA/DVI out (1280×720), and 10/100/1000 gigabit ethernet capabilities. All this and the kitchen sink will cost you a cool $20,000. Start saving up, ’cause it will be available this Fall.
