Panasonic announced a couple new additions at NAB, one of which is the new Panasonic AJ-HDX900 digital camcorder. The AJ-HDX900 is the HD version of its predecessor, the AJ-SDX900. The new AJ-HDX900 adds on support for 1080i and 720p. It also now uses the popular DVCPRO HD codec for encoding.
The three CCD sensors are 2/3″ and native 16:9 size. Color sampling is done at 4:2:2 with independant frame compression. There is also a pre-recording function that can capture “spontaneous scenes a shooter might otherwise miss.”
No pictures available yet, but the AJ-HDX900 will most likely resemble the SDX900, which is pictured above. The price is $26,500 and you can pick yours up in July.
