gs300.jpgPanasonic’s PV-GS300 digital camcorder delivers 3 CCDs at an affordable price. Compared to its predecessor, the PV-GS250, the PV-GS300 now features a 2.7″ widescreen LCD, but has taken away the focus ring on the lens. Better for point-and-shooters, but perhaps not the greatest for an avid videographer. CNET’s review says much of the same thing. They liked the image stabilization and low-light performance, but could have used more manual features:

If you have a good eye for video but a bad time with technology, then the Panasonic PV-GS300 will deliver exactly what you want: great video quality with minimum fuss. But if you like to tweak and experiment even occasionally, don’t go here.

Personally I really like the way Panasonic designed the menu control on the PV-GS300. Being able to hold the camcorder and operate the menu at the same time with one hand is a great feature. The video quality really is great, and the external microphone jack is always a wonderful feature to have. If you want good video quality, and ease of use, Panasonic’s PV-GS300 is a great choice.
