mg77.jpgRight now, the JVC GZ-MG77 is the highest-end model in JVC’s line of tapeless camcorders. Of course, for those who can wait (and have a higher budget) the JVC GZ-MG505 will be coming someday soon. For those who can’t wait, but want the best, the GZ-MG77 is the best available. But just how good is it really? CNET’s review of the GZ-MG77 seems to think that you could do better:

The small size and massive video storage capacity of the JVC Everio GZ-MG77 make it a tantalizing choice, but poor video quality keeps this hard-disk-based camera from being a tape- or DVD-killer.

Poor picture quality was among a few other shortcomings like slow autofocus and auto exposure. But hey, nothing’s perfect, right?
