macbook.jpgDMN has one of the first benchmarks I’ve seen that compares the new 13-inch MacBook to the larger, more powerful MacBook Pro. Believe it or not, the MacBook holds up really well against the MacBook Pro, and even ousts the G5 in many of the tests.

For the comparison, multiple tests were put together in Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Compressor. They involved adding different effects and exporting in a variety of formats.

When I first got ahold of a MacBook Pro last month, I was shocked by its capability to beat out desktop G5 systems consistently. But I was doubly shocked to see such dramatic results from the newer and lower-end 2.0 GHz MacBook as well. After all, this is not just a notebook competing with a fairly current desktop system, but a consumer-level notebook at that.

Pretty awesome. The next tests will delve into Adobe applications, 3D rendering, and windows-based applications running on the Macbook.
