The guys at Indie Films Live are definitely lucky bums. They got to grab the new SI-1920HDVR HD camcorder and take it out for some “testing” (i.e. to shoot their own film, “Spoon”). The Silicon Imaging SI-1920HDVR camcorder was announced only recently at NAB. Granted, the model they have is a prototype, but apparently there weren’t any major bugs that affected workflow.
Anyway, head on over to the blog and check out the series of posts if you’re at all interested in the SI-1920HDVR. Haven’t had a chance to do anything but skim them myself, but it all looks very, very promising (at $20K it had better be). Everyone on the set is amazed by the image quality, and the fact that the camcorder records straight to a hot-swappable HDD in a bunch of HD formats is just icing on the cake.
