The long awaited review of the Sony HC36 is here. OK, so maybe it’s not so long awaited, but here it is. CamcorderInfo took the HC36 through the usual tests and found that it didn’t provide too much over the HC26, and also that there may be better choices out there.
Sure, you get the prolific Sony touchscreen and infared nightshot, but only gain a remote and 640×480 stills over the HC26. The Sony HC46 provides better quality video via a larger CCD, and also provides larger stills. Canon’s Elura 100 offers a whole slew of manual features along with analog input and external microphone jack.
Like CCInfo states in the first paragraph of the review, the HC36 is stuck between the proverbial rock and hard place. You can read the full review at CamcorderInfo.
