Revolution Stock Media is a brand new web site where you can upload your own stock video footage, 3D animations, and motion backgrounds and sell them to others. Much like popular stock photo sites such as iStockPhoto, Revolution Stock Media is a community-based outlet where you can request specific footage and keep in contact with other videographers. What sets it apart from other stock footage sites is the cost of the footage itself.
Footage is priced at flat rates. Standard DV footage is $15, 720p is $25, and 1080 HD footage is $35. These insanely low prices fly in the face of every other stock footage service I’ve ever seen. The other user-submitted stock video service I know of, ShutterStock Footage, generally charges around $99 for standard DV clips.
Currently the royalty rates (i.e. how much you make for each clip you sell) are set at 60% for exclusive producers and 45% for non-exclusive producers. Being an exclusive producer means you cannot sell your footage for download on any site similar to Revostock.com. You can, however, sell it via hard copy or on your own website.
These royalty rates are subject to change, and probably will since there is a disclaimer on the site that these are introductory royalty rates designed to draw new producers in this beginning phase.
