Sony’s new HDR-UX1 is the first DVD camcorder to record high definition video. It is also one of the first DVD camcorders that could possibly appeal to the professional in some way shape or form. Why is this? I give you four reasons and a link to CCInfo’s first impressions review, as well.
One, the Sony HDR-UX1 records HD using the AVCHD format. Two, it can record up to 60 minutes using new dual layer discs (rather than the usual dreaded 30 minutes). Three, it has a microphone jack AND a headphone jack. Four, it has the multi-function ring, which can control focus, exposure, white balance, and AE shift. Will these be enough to sway the hardy? Probably not, but the HDR-UX1 is definitely a start.
