Videomaker is announcing a call for entries to its annual short video contest. The guidelines for the contest are simple. Create a five minute or less short video in one of 16 different categories and send it in as a file on a CD, DVD, or MiniDV cassette. Only downside is the $10 entry fee, but the prizes are worth it.

The grand prize winner will receive a brand new Sony HDR-FX1 HDV digital camcorder. For all you budding independents out there, sweeeeet… Other prizes include Trilab Productions Digital Hotcakes valued at $2,023 and a JVC GZ-MG505.

All entries will be judged on production quality, post-production quality, content, image, and sound. The total value of the equipment used during production cannot exceed $20,000.
