Looks like we may see those Blu-ray digital camcorders a little sooner than expected. Recently Hitachi announced that they would be developing Blu-ray camcorders, which were estimated at two years out. Now it appears that Hitachi could be shooting for a 2007 release of both a Blu-ray model and an AVCHD model.
The Blu-ray digital camcorder will likely be slightly larger than standard DVD camcorders. Hitachi is shooting for a price of around $1,500. Also being released in the U.S. next year is the combo HDD/DVD digital camcorders we have already seen released overseas. The future is definitely bright for digital camcorders.
