As the release date of the HVR-V1U draws nearer, DMN has published the second part of their interview with Sony’s Bob Ott, Vice President of Optical and Network Systems. An interesting look at Sony’s view on the HVR-V1U, and also their ideas on H.264 and MPEG2 formats of video. Here’s an interesting quote:

We are targeting [the HVR-V1U] right at an affordable price. It literally becomes the camera that, in my opinion, the kid who’s going to film school says, “Hey Dad, we just spent $2400 on my laptop, but double it and I can get a camera and I can really make some money by the time I get out of school.”

We’ll see once it is shipped first week of December.
