Panasonic is finally gearing up to release their first tapeless digital camcorder to use the AVCHD codec, which was developed in cooperation with Sony. At the moment, not much is known about this new camcorder besides the fact that it will utilize SDHC cards and a 3 CCD chip system. It will be able to record 55 minutes of footage at 9Mbps quality or 85 minutes at a lower 6Mbps quality. Besides the HD, I would expect that the upgrade will be much like the Panasonic SDR-S150. The launch date and price is unknown at this time.
