CNET has posted their Sony HDR-UX1 review online. It came to many of the same conclusions as another HDR-UX1 review. Specifically, the Sony HDR-UX1 is a great camcorder, but its major flaw is compatibility. The AVCHD format it utilizes for recording footage is readable by a very small number of HD players, and compatibility with your desktop at home is doubtful at best. Keep in mind that major players like Adobe and Pinnacle are working on AVCHD editing solutions, but there is no official word as to when we will see this problem solved.
The author loved the quality of the video and its low light capabilities, but suggests that, at least in the near future, consumers should go with a Sony HDR-HC3 or Canon HV10 instead.
