OK, the Upravlator has been unveiled, so it’s finally time to see what it’s really all about. Basically it is a 10.8″ LCD screen with 12 buttons overlayed on top. Each button can be pushed on the top, bottoms, sides, or middle for a whole gamut of possible functions. There is a lot to like about the Upravlator right off the bat, but I wonder how it will actually fare.
Basically the Upravlator looks like a larger version of the Optimus Mini Three. Conceptually this is a very cool idea, and one I will look forward to seeing in action, but I wonder how easy it will be to program each of the small displays.
Obviously the buttons themselves will be easy since they can just be assigned a key stroke or macro function. The actual pictures in the display, however, will be the hard part. Maybe some sort of open source programming will be available to create plugins for specific programs.
Anyway, head on over for some more pics. The Upravlator will be available in the latter half of 2007, and pricing is as yet unavailable.
