Panasonic has introduced a new shoulder-mounted HD camcorder to the market. The Panasonic AJ-HPX2000 records footage on up to five hot-swappable P2 cards. The AJ-HPX2000 uses Panasonic’s new AVC-Intra codec, which is supposed to keep the same DVCPRO HD quality while running at only 50 Mbps vs. the usual 100 Mbps. This effectively doubles the capacity of each P2 card, an attractive feature for many potential buyers.
If you want to get your grubby hands on one of these you are looking at shelling out a cool $27,000. The Panasonic AJ-HPX2000 will be available in January, 2007.
