Canon has just announced a new MiniDVD camcorder to round out the top end of their newly announced DC210, DC220, and DC230. The Canon DC50 features a huge 1/2.7″ CCD with a whopping 5.39 megapixel resolution. Also featured is Canon’s nine-point AiAF autofocus and the ever important optical image stabilization.
The Canon DC50 also includes a 10x optical zoom, wireless remote, and a 2.7″ LCD. A video light is also built-in for low-light situations. Video footage can be transferred to your PC and dubbed to regular DVDs with the included software, Roxio MyDVD for Canon. The DC50 will accept both single- and dual-layer DVD-R and DVD-RW media.
If Canon can deliver on the video and (especially) still image quality, the Canon DC50 could be quite the camcorder for the average user. You can expect to see the DC50 in late February for an MSRP of $799.
