Hitachi has announced two more DVD camcorders to satisfy your desire for lower video quality and short recording times. I am just going to say it right now, I don’t think anyone is going to want to buy these camcorders. As far as we know, these two new camcorders, the Hitachi DZ-GX5020A and DZ-GX5080A, will not support dual-layer discs. With every other camcorder announced this year offering dual layer support Hitachi has dropped the ball on their additions. But enough of this rant, let’s get to the camcorders (get ready to be bored).

The Hitachi DZ-GX5020A features your standard 1/6″, 680K CCD along with a 2.7″ widescreen LCD and 30x optical zoom. Head up to the DZ-GX5080A and you add on an LED light and USB connectivity. Told you it was boring…

The DZ-GX5020A will be available in February for about $350, while the DZ-GX5080A will be available March for $450.
