Hitachi definitely gets the prize for most innovative new camcorders with two truly hybrid devices. Both camcorders feature the ability to record to both hard drive and DVD. Yes, Samsung has their own hybrid camcorder for this year, but Hitachi’s camcorders have already been released in Japan and are just now making their way to the U.S. The hybrid capabilities of the new models will allow you to completely bypass the computer and dub footage directly to DVD.

The first model is the Hitachi DZ-HS300A, which features an 8GB hard drive for recording along with, obviously, a MiniDVD drive. Other specs include a 680K CCD, 2.7″ widescreen LCD, and a 25x optical zoom. The DZ-HS300A will be available soon for $600.

The Hitachi DZ-HS500A is Hitachi’s claim to fame, featuring a 30GB to go with DVD recording capability. Zoom is also upgraded to 30x optical. The DZ-HS500A will be available in April for $800.
