Sony is just hammering away with new camcorder announcements for this year. They have announced three new entry-level tapeless camcorders. The first of these, the Sony DCR-SR42 features the same 30GB hard drive as well as the same size 1/6″ 680K CCD. It also has the same 4:3 aspect ratio, 2.5″ LCD. However, the optical zoom has been upped to 40x, Sony’s Handycam Station is included, and a Memory Stick Pro Duo slot has been added. Also, all three of these new tapeless camcorders utilize Sony’s new “H” series batteries, which promise much longer battery life than previously available.

The Sony DCR-SR62 nets you a sensor upgrade to 1 megapixel gross, but retains the same 1/6″ CCD. The LCD screen increases to 2.7″ widescreen, zoom decreases to 25x, and you get Sony’s accessory shoe.

The Sony DCR-SR82 offers all of these features and upgrades you to a 60GB hard drive.

The Sony DCR-SR42, DCR-SR62, and DCR-SR82 will be available in March for MSRPs of $600, $650, and $750, respectively.
