The Sony HDR-FX7 has received its share of fanfare since it was first announced, and now the time has come to see how it stacks up against the competition. CamcorderInfo has their Sony HDR-FX7 review posted and it does just that. One of their main finds was that versus the Canon XH A1 the FX7 faltered in low light situations. At 15 lux levels colors were bad and noise was readily apparent.
The A1’s more prosumer feature set also makes it a formidable contender to the Sony HDR-FX7. Sony has deemed the FX7 a “consumer” camcorder, and, although it does have very good video quality, the rest of the camcorder doesn’t quite add up. This is especially true when a purely prosumer camcorder like the Canon XH A1 is only a few hundred dollars more. If the Sony FX7 is on your wishlist take a hard look at this review.
