Online royalty free stock footage company FootageFirm is giving away 500 free copies of its newest product, “Skylines of America.” All you have to do is pay a negligible $8.50 for shipping and handling. All clips are 30-50 seconds long in DV AVI format, 29.97fps, 720×480. There is also a bonus HD clip of the New York City skyline. It looks like the offer is still available so make sure to jump on this deal.
“All you have to do…” is wait… and wait… and hope…
I waited over a month and only rec’d a charge and order confirm. After spending two days trying to call and emailing, I rec’d a very prompt refund, the reason being “Customer is impatient.” Though never an explanation as to why they couldn’t ship or any contact from them at all. I gave them the choice of confirming shipment (which I found others have rec’d on other forums) or a refund… THEY chose to refund my $8.50. Not much confidence in themselves it appears.
Perhaps they really shouldn’t promote a 500 piece giveaway if they don’t have any. That’s just my opinion. Too bad, I was hoping they wanted more business from me and my videography students.
WOW! While I was impressed with the website, AND with a prompt refund, it appeared that customer service was lacking… HOWEVER I am 100% WRONG! Joel Holland just called me personally, and apparently, his emails were going to my junk folder (They were apparently not from a “footagefirm.com” account, which I HAVE added to my approved address list…) SO… obviously no harm or misleading was intended from FootageFirm, and the technology of spam filters has led to my clouded judgement.
THANK YOU Joel and FootageFirm. (He said the dvd is still shipping to me… as soon as I receive it, I will certainly put a check in the mail.) I’m not unreasonable, and he stepped up and made things right! STOKED!
This happens so rarely it seems. So I felt if I’m the first to complain, I must also be willing to be the first to say I am wrong. Good job Joel!
Well, I got the confirmation that my Skylines DVD was shipped on June 23rd. It’s now July 13 and I have no product in hand. I’ve sent email and made a couple of calls to Footage Firm asking for info on my order. No calls or emails returned in over a week.
It certainly should have been received by now, even if it was sent by bicycle courier. So far, order placed on May 25th, “shipped” on June 23rd, and nowhere to be seen as of July 13th. Not exactly stellar performance and an serious blight on their credibility.
Too bad.
I actually ordered one myself and received it about a week ago, I believe. They are definitely being shipped although, Tom, you may want to contact them as 3 weeks is a very long time for shipping and something else may have gone wrong.
I’ve spoken to Joel a few times and he seems to be doing a good job so I was surprised to see that people were not getting their footage and were upset with the time it took for them to get clips. Prompt shipping and customer support is key and I’m sure there is a good reason why Joel hasn’t gotten back to some of you.
Glad to see Nik finally clarified the mistake that was taking place and the footage is in the mail.
