Sanyo has announced what they call, “the world’s first waterproof camcorder.” The Sanyo Xacti E1 will be capable of recording standard definition video to a depth of 5 feet for up to one hour at a time. The E1 camcorder will utilize the MPEG4 format and will record onto SD or SDHC cards. On an 8GB SDHC card, a full 10 hours of 640×480, 30fps footage can be recorded.
The Sanyo Xacti E1 features a 1/2.5″ CCD and is capable of taking 6 megapixel still photos. It also features a 2.5″ LCD screen, a digital image stabilizer, and a 5x optical zoom.
Another very nice add-on to the whole package is the bundled Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 software, which is one of the better consumer-end editing packages available.
The Sanyo Xacti E1 will be available in mid-June for a suggested price of $499. Colors include Yellow, Blue
, and White
and are available now for pre-order on Amazon.com
