Ever wondered what the difference is between buying a cheap camcorder or one of those expensive VTR (Video Tape Recorder) decks to capture your DV tapes onto your computer? The DV Show blog has a quick synopsis of the differences between the two options.

Basically, the data you capture from the deck is identical to what you would capture from a cheap camcorder. Unless you need quick rewind and fast forward, and the ability to play both NTSC and PAL tapes, a cheap camcorder is probably just as good an option, and much more economical. The only downside to cheap camcorders is that the heads will wear out much more quickly.
