There is a great DIY tutorial now available at Instructables that will teach you how to make your own LED video light. The instructions are illustrated with pictures every step of the way, so even those of you without the best handyman skills should be able to give this a whirl.
The LED light looks very nice when done and light will be very evenly spread since it fits around the lens rather than on top by the hotshoe. You can use this for extra light in low-light situations or as a fill in brighter areas.
The author estimates build time at about 3-4 hours.
