Hitachi showed off its hybrid DZ-HS300A and DZ-HS500A camcorders at infoCOMM 2007, and DMN was there to talk with a representative about the two. There is a short and sweet little video of the rep answering some questions and giving a quick overview of the camcorders. Here are a couple new things I learned watching the video:

According to the rep the differences between the two are the hard drive size and DVD burning speed. The Hitachi DZ-HS300A burns at 1.5x while the DZ-HS500A burns at 2.0x. The former is obvious but the latter was news to me. Also, he did forget to mention that the DZ-HS500A has a 30x optical zoom versus a 25x on the DZ-HS300A.

Right now, the Hitachi DZ-HS500A is only available in stores at Circuit City, but BestBuy.com and Amazon.com both have the camcorder if you can’t stand it there.
