Musical artist Moby has created a new section on his website simply titled, “Moby Gratis.” This new section’s purpose is to provide music for “independent and non-profit filmmakers, film students, and anyone in need of free music for their independent, non-profit film, video, or short.”

After creating an account and logging in you have access to a ton of music tracks that you can freely use for your production. Just fill out a short request for a license, which asks for the title of your film and a short description of the movie and scene in which the music will be used.

If you want to use the music in a commercial project you can apply for a different license. Any proceeds from this license will be given to the humane society.

This is a very unique offering and I hope to see more artists offering this kind of service.
