CNET’s Canon HG10 review seems a little harder on the camcorder than CamcorderInfo’s recent review. They spend a lot more time on the ergonomics of the HG10 than the actual quality of the video. Fortunately, this probably means that they didn’t see many problems with the video quality if they didn’t have to mention anything.

It seems that Canon moved some controls and features around on the HG10 that were both for better and for worse. Certain functions and features are easier to access while others are even harder to find. None of them struck me as anything that makes or breaks the Canon HG10, but it’s worth checking out to make sure you are OK with the changes.

The Canon HG10 review also mentions problems with the audio, although Canon has included an external microphone input for anyone who wants premium sound.

Overall, CNET awards the Canon HG10 a 7.5 out of 10 rating for great image stabilization and video quality. The dinged points come from the ergonomics and audio problems.

I’ve bought Canon iVIS HG10 (for Japan market only). What is different from Canon HG10? May be at video resolution, 1440X1080 for iVIS HG10 and 1920X1080 for HG10. Anyone tell me what else different?
After turning off power or in playback mode, lift it up and lightly incline it, there is a “click” sound. I don’t know if it due to “Immage Stability function” or “Sensor Drop function” status?
Please tell me if you have some idea about what I discribe above. My email is thangnmcv@msn.com
