Post production with HDV can be a little tricky, and, for professionals, extra hardware is must in many situations. Tom Kolb over at Creative Cow has written an informative article/post entitled, “Demystifying HDV Workflows,” with the express purpose in mind of trying to make sense of some HDV workflows where extra hardware is not needed. It is a very thorough document, but also very jargon-intense. If you are new to the game of HDV just power through, get the gist, and you will be fine.
