Armed with a new name and some great new features, Sony has announced Vegas Pro 8, the latest in their line of professional NLE software titles. Sony Vegas Pro 8 features an all-new multicam workflow along with a new 32-bit floating point video engine. Support for Sony AVCHD camcorders and Blu-ray disc burning should also be a nice addition for many editors.

Sony Vegas Pro 8 includes expanded template support for creating digital signage for specialized displays at shops, tradeshows and other events that require video to be displayed in portrait style at a 9:16 ratio. The included DVD Architect 4.5 software also features updated templates for a total of 44 available designs.

Sony Vegas Pro 8 is Vista-compatible for those who have upgraded to the latest version of Windows. There are plenty more features so make sure to read the whole release below.

The software will be available on September 10, 2007, for a MSRP of $699.95 for new users. Special pricing for users who are upgrading will also be available.
