Weighing in at just 4 ounces, the new Microcast HD from Optronics is designed mainly for medical purposes but could be used to capture some of those shots you were never able to get before. It features three 1/2″ CCDs and records footage at 1080P resolution.

Microcast HD can be installed on any research-grade microscope for close-ups of even the most evil virus. However, the camera’s flexibility is enhanced by its standard C-mount lens adapter and real-time, 36-bit RGB image processing with extreme dynamic range even in low light.

The camera delivers full high-definition progressive-scan image resolution of 1920 x1080p (2.07 million) pixels at 60 frames per second. Image outputs include 2X DVI, RGB, S-Video and DV.

No word on a price, but, since it is for medical purposes, if you are asking you probably can’t afford it.
