divicam.jpgMaybe deep down somewhere I’m a fan of Creative Labs, I don’t know, but the new DiVi CAM 525D digital camcorder actually looks really cool. This is despite the fact that it’s another one of those all-in-one pocket electronics. The DiVi CAM 525D records video at 640×480 resolution and 30fps - and supports MPEG 4 nonetheless - along with a whole slew of other features.

For one there is the still shot mode, which will get you 5 megapixels on the 1/2.5″ CCD sensor (pretty big sensor). You can also take 11 megapixel interpolated photos but who would want that? The screen is nice and big at 2.5″. The 1100mAH lithium battery can run for hours when recording video and can be recharged without being removed from the camcorder.

The DiVi CAM 525D uses SD memory and has 32MB built-in. Of course, this is upgradeable to 2GB. Probably the only negative feature (or lack thereof) is that there is no optical zoom, only 8x digital. But I must also mention that the DiVi CAM 525D is also an MP3 player, voice recorder, and webcam.

How much for all this electronic goodness? The DiVi CAM 525D is priced at $229 USD. “Righto,” you say. “I’m going out to pick one up right now!” Hold your horses, this, like so many cool electronic toys, is only available in the Singapore market for now, so don’t hold your breath.
