Looks like the professional version of the just announced Sony HDR-FX7 is right around the corner for the U.S. Actually, the Sony HVR-V1E has officially been announced in Germany at the IBC, but it’s the Europe version. This camcorder will be the bigger brother of the HDR-FX7, and will incorporate more professional features that are bound to make many people happy.

First off, the Sony HVR-V1E will be able to record in true 25P. Just listen to the rejoicing among the Indie filmmakers out there. You can bet that the U.S. version (HVR-V1U?) will be capable of 24P recording.

The HVR-V1E will also be able to use a new Sony HDD recorder, the HVR-DR 60, which features a non-removable 60GB hard drive. This device is battery powered and connects via firewire for recording footage straight to disk.

2 XLR inputs have been added to the Sony HVR-V1E replacing the 3.5mm stereo mini-jack on the HDR-FX7. According to Sony’s press release, other professional features include:

A timecode preset function
A TC Link to synchronize time codes between multiple cameras
A Camera Profile feature to adjust the camera settings of multiple cameras for multi-camera operations.

Other than that it looks like most features stay the same, including the 20x optical zoom and 3 CMOS sensors. The Sony HVR-V1E will be available in November. The price seems to be around $5600.
