Videomaker takes a look at one of the more unique camcorders of the year with their Sony HDR-UX1 review. They were immediately impressed by the large 3.5″ screen, but were a bit taken aback by the size, although to be fair it made the camcorder feel more durable. The reviewer found that the video quality on the HDR-UX1 was not as satisfying as footage from HDV camcorders. There was evidence of artifacting and overall loss of detail when compared to tape-based alternatives. However, the Sony HDR-UX1 turned out to be easy to use and has a lot of manual features to choose from as well.
