An intrepid Japanese reader passed along this picture of what could be Canon’s next big move in their consumer HDV camcorder lineup. The picture is of what appears to be a Canon HV50, and features not one, but three CMOS sensors. Other features include an 18x optical zoom, Optical Image Stabilization, 1080i and 720p recording, and 24p capability. The Canon HV50 also ups the still image size to 5 megapixels.

I cannot find any other information on this camcorder, but the image looks pretty legit. No product page has been posted on Canon’s Japanese website or anywhere else I can find, for that matter. Send an email to tips [at] digitalcamcordernews.com if you have any other information.

This has already been determined to be a fake. The reason there’s no other info is that it doesn’t exist.
