JVC is making some very optimistic goals for the coming year when it comes to HDD camcorders. Forbes is reporting that this fiscal year JVC is planning to sell 2.1 million HDD camcorders throughout the world, a 40% increase over the current fiscal year.

Two factors will play both for and against JVC. Sony already offers more tapeless camcorders than JVC does and will be their main competitor, but at the same time the market is ripe for the picking when it comes to HDD camcorders. As MiniDV camcorders make their way out there is an opening that other formats will have to fill, and consumers have already shown their love for all things tapeless.
