So, knowing that the Sony HDR-CX7 will not come with an included memory card, you will be looking for some removable media on which to store that precious footage. Sony comes to the rescue with the official announcement of their new Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo cards.

The PRO-HG Duo cards will have data transfer rates of up to 30MB/sec. Yes, that’s 30 megabytes not bits (so 240 megabits/sec for the mathmatically challenged). This means that an hour of AVCHD footage at SP quality can be transferred (using an ExpressCard adapter and compatible computer) in about 2 minutes.

Sony’s Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo cards will first be available in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB capacities for $60, $90, and $150, respectively. An ExpressCard reader will also be available for around $80. All products will be available in August.
